Mark,  I have lived  in N. C.since  high school and and in my opinion , its the best place to retire.. My home airport is NC27  which is a grass strip about 3000 fot long and at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains.  The elevationis 1200 ft msl..I belong to Lenoir Aviation Club, which has about 125 members,  we have our own gas, club house, the land is own by the club and our dues for membership is $200.00 per year..We just had our 50th year in existence,  we have about 70  hangars on the field..It is classified as a private non-profit club with the state, also you have to apply and be voted in to gain membership by the club. AS a LAC member , you do not own the land ,, its owned by the club, You can buy an existing hangar or build your own..There is  a new housing development that is agencent to the airport that are building and  selling homes  that are in the $150 to 250 thousand dollar  range  with acces to the airport.  Also,  I have
been a member for about 10 years and I am in the process of building a Titan 11, which I plan to keep in my hangar at Lenoir Aviation Club..I am retired and the Titan will be my 5th project , the previous ones wew sonex and RV6  so if interested in this area, come on down'''''''''''Also , I need to mention that there is a  5000ft paved runway airport  about 5 miles from LAC..the I D is MRN which is the Morganton-Lenoir  airport..I could probably send some pics if you need  them....My name is sherrill  kendrick  phone is 1 828 728 8743

At some point in the future (maybe eight years) we intend to retire to an airport community, and have our Titan treasures in a hanger with our house. We are looking looking at North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia. We would prefer to not be around Atlanta, as those hot humid summers are just brutal there. One area we are looking at is the Blue Ridge Mountains area to get a little altitude for cooler temps.

Since many of our Tornado friends live in this area of the country, do you have any suggestions of nice airpark communities where the real estate isn't too expensive. We are probably not in the market for country club prices, but not at the bottom end of the scale either.

Any suggestions or thoughts?
