[Titanaircraft] Re: Any Tornado S or SS for sale in US or Canada

I don't know him .. isn't that the guy that writes one of the columns in the Dept of Aeronautics "Pireps" newsletter?

All they can do is require you to perform within the tolerances in the PTS and show good judgement. Of course humoring him can't hurt .. haha.

I was taught to turn at 400 to 500 ft when at an uncontrolled airport and staying in the pattern, with the main concern being to get to
pattern altitude prior to turning downwind leg. I usually plan my
pattern to be at pattern altitude when making the turn to downwind.
If I remember right the recommendation from the AC on traffic patterns (or maybe it's AIM) says to turn beyond the end of the departure runway and within 300 ft of pattern altitude.
