[Titanaircraft] Rotax 912 voltage variation in the cold

I just got back from a long round trip between NM and IL. It was really cold on the way back, -6C on the ground (cabin heat would have been nice).

I noticed the voltage in the electrical system oscillating between 11V to probably more than 16V. The load did not seem to matter. The last leg of the trip was considerably warmer and the voltage was 14V solid as usual.

Is this the symptom of something starting to fail or only going to happen if it is real cold?
