It could be that it is difficult to prep for paint in a big aluminum weld like that.

No crack found. I had a tester come out today and they did a DPI (dye penetration inspection test) also known as a liquid penetration test done and the result was no crack found. Not sure why the paint cracked in that spot but I guess there is enough flexing to cause the paint to crack.
