I started my serious flying in the mid-80s. If you assume average inflation
of 5% for 20 years, that $100K aircraft today would have been around $25K
then.
I can't afford $100K now, but I could have afforded $25K then.

I thought the 503 had already been approved as ASTM compliant. I think I
remember hearing about that a year ago or maybe two? Seems like that
announcement came on the heels of the 582, but my memory may be faulty on
that.
Either way, hope it does make it in so rotax keeps selling them and doesn't
quit making them. Losing a good inexpensive light a/c engine like the 503
would be a hard loss to the light a/c market - despite the folklore
surrounding SP, 100 grand is not the new "affordable" cost for an LSA class
plane!
