RE: RE: Re: [Titanaircraft] Re: Jabiru oil puzzle

Tim,

If the leak continues remove fuel pump and coat both sides of both gaskets
with a light coat of hi temp rtv and then replace. That usually stops any
leak.

If this leak had been in a typical tractor installation it would show up as
a few drops of oil on the oil pump cover at the front end of the engine with
no evidence as to how the drops got there.

BINGO! Thanks Pete. The fuel pump bolts were a little loose and I was able
to get about another 1/4 turn on both of them. Evidence of the oil leak
there was obvious although I can't quite figure out how the oil droplets got
to the top of the engine case. I guess all that air blowing around during
flight will do weird things. The proof that this fixed the problem will come
this weekend after about a 300 mile cross-country flight.

Also check the torque on the fuel pump bolts. We see an occasional leak at
that spot.

Thanks, RT. I will check that today.

flight, when I look at the top of my engine there are several droplets of
engine oil right on top of the engine case just aft of the serial number
label and I can't find where it's coming from. It's right next to the oil
fill but there is no residue around that. I have an oil/air separator
mounted in front of the engine on the same side and I don't see any residue
around the top opening of that either. This started about 25-30 engine hours
ago and it presently has about 160 total hours on it. It's more of an
irritation than anything else but if anyone out there has seen this before,
I'd appreciate hearing from you.

Tim ..

Check the seal around where the oil fill tube mounts to the
block. I had an issue there early on and it was an easy fix.
