Re: [Titanaircraft] New Titan owner with a few problems/questions

Brent,

You can't break Lexan. The plastic hinge is much easier to work with, and keeps water out. One thing I see over and over again on Titan front doors is the skin and Lexan just gets riveted on and run how it lays, which puts excessive stress on the hinge when the door is shut. This causes the hinge to tear prematurely at the front and rear. We're just now replacing the hinge on our 2S that's been flying since 2003, which has been opened and shut nearly a 1000 times.

I've never seen a starter swich on the left in a Titan. Except for the starter switch, all the engine controls are supposed to be on the left. The throttle and choke levers are normally mounted on the same stud pivot in a Tornado.

Subject: [Titanaircraft] New Titan owner with a few problems/questions

Greetings all! I have just purchased a Titan Tornado II with Rotax 912UL, Power Fin 3-blade prop. TT about 400 hours.
I have a few questions.

Door got awayfrom me and broke the plastic one piece hinge at bottom of door. Is it advisable to use the MS plastic piano hinge as replacement? OR is the one piece hinge designed to break instead of the lexan?

Door "Strut" installation on this aircraft is terrible. I noticed a gas strut mod on this forum. Has that proved to be viable?

All engine controls were installed on the left side!!! Hard to manipulate throttle, choke, starter. I will relocate starter switch to right side. Any ideas on choke cable set ups? This one has a lever in front of the throttle.

What kind of brake actuation set ups are out there? This one has a single master cylinder lever on right.

Any Pics/insall instructions would be nice to vieja@sbcglobal.net

THANKS! This looks to be a great forum.
