RE: [Titanaircraft] New Titan owner with a few problems/questions

Brent,

Congrats on your purchase. Two ways to go on the door hinge...you could
replace with factory plastic hinge or upgrade to extruded aluminum hinge.
I've been adding a 1-1/2" piano hinge to top and bottom to aid in support of
the plastic hinge. It would be easier to install and with the added support
would last for years. The aluminum is a bit harder to match drill (may
require purchase of strap duplicator) and will need a weather seal to keep
air and moisture from coming in, but will be a nice permanent upgrade. The
latest SS model comes with aluminum hinges standard now.

Gas struts are great...when installed correctly. My last installation I
fabricated some nice 4130 brackets that were constructed by cutting a tube
in half and welding to flat stock, then epoxy/rivet to frame tubing. I'm
certain they will hold up much better than a flat bracket. It would
probably be a good idea to have a strap in front tied to your panel or the
front hoop to avoid repeating this situation. The wind is pretty good at
catching the door just when you're least able to catch it.

Most Tornados have dual master cylinders under the pax seat. If your model
does not have the mounts for it, there is a retro fit kit, although the
whole package could get a little expensive. I have an extra set of Matco
master cylinders I could sell you for a fraction of the cost. The D model
normally has heal brakes tied to the rear master cylinders with brake
cables.

Subject: [Titanaircraft] New Titan owner with a few problems/questions

Greetings all! I have just purchased a Titan Tornado II with Rotax 912UL,
Power Fin 3-blade prop. TT about 400 hours.
I have a few questions.

Door got awayfrom me and broke the plastic one piece hinge at bottom of
door. Is it advisable to use the MS plastic piano hinge as replacement? OR
is the one piece hinge designed to break instead of the lexan?

Door "Strut" installation on this aircraft is terrible. I noticed a gas
strut mod on this forum. Has that proved to be viable?

All engine controls were installed on the left side!!! Hard to manipulate
throttle, choke, starter. I will relocate starter switch to right side. Any
ideas on choke cable set ups? This one has a lever in front of the throttle.

What kind of brake actuation set ups are out there? This one has a single
master cylinder lever on right.

Any Pics/insall instructions would be nice to vieja@sbcglobal.net

THANKS! This looks to be a great forum.
