Re: [Titanaircraft] 2 stroke engines

100hp on a single place will be a screamer, unless you live at high altitude. At sea level, even a 503 52hp will give you lots of giggles, then upgrade to the Jab 2200 80hp when your ready. If money is no option, then go for it!!

Subject: [Titanaircraft] 2 stroke engines

Hello group. for the time being im just looking around online trying to find the right combo for when i try to build. Ive figured ill build a titan, probly a single place for my first plane. As you know a huge range of hp options applies in terms of engine selection and im not firm on whether to go with a 4 or two stroke. obviously a 2 stroke motor has a bunch of problems with reliability. but for cost sake, 2 is the way im leaning. now ive found plenty of 2 strokes out there that have claims of reliability or power to weight stats that seem great, ie.: rotax, hirth, siminoni. these three are the ones im looking at. Im finding their claims, except for rotax, which i think is at the lower end of my needs for power ( hoping for about 100, or more hp), well, ill say, a little unbelievable. and ive read mixed forum reports which say im correct in this assumption. However, since you guys fly titans and im gonna build one, can someone please, if youve had experience with some of these power options be frank about your, or ohters you know, experiences with them? Your candidness can go a long way to making my decision. ( thinking if i should save and just buy a ssecond hand Jabiru 3300).

Thanks
David Shirar
