Re: [Titanaircraft] Wheel Pants

Bill,

Do you have all wheel pants and gear leg fairings? It also depends on the altitude you're flying at. Out of the 912S-powered Tornados I've flown here (all were 23-1/2' wing), the fastest level-flight indicated cruise speeds I ever saw while flying solo was with an in-flight IVO on a 912S was about 114 MPH at 7000' MSL. Fixed-pitch cruise speeds maxed out at 105-108 MPH.

Proper wing rigging also plays a big part in speed. If the flaps and ailerons are drooped or not set per factory specs, that can also cost a few miles per hour and cause stall speed stability problems with certain rigging configurations. I've seen and flown many Tornados, and have yet to see more than one or two other than ours that were rigged properly and had the flap blocks in the correct location. I've also seen several with the flap blocks placed arbitrarily in the middle of the trailing edge where there is no support, which flexes the trailing edge and flap skin, which also distributes some of the flap flight loads back to the flap motor.

Kimberly,

Hope you are doing well. I have a question that maybe you can help me with.... I'm lucky if I get an avg of 110 out of a 912s 100hp Titan Tornado II. I do have an IVO In-flight adjust prop... Any suggestions of why I'm not getting the speed that others tell me I should be getting. They tell me I should be cruising at least 120.

Hope you had a great Christmas.

Thank you,

Bill

Yes -- many sets. They're not too bad. I've got some video of our first installation that I can edit to either e-mail or make it downloadable for you if you are interested. It doesn't have every tiny detailed step, but it gives you a good idea of what you're in for. Just let me know.

Has anyone installed their own wheel pants? if so, how long, how hard?
Any feedback is appreciated.
