Yes, you can hard-chrome it. About .001-.0015 thick. It will require some
hand honing with sand paper or emory cloth. I hard-chromed the last 5 spring
forks I built as a test, and they have held up beautifully. Unfortuntately,
we didn't end up keeping any for ourselves.

How do you protect the shaft of the "Panos pamper" nose wheel

from not rusting besides the grease that is on the shaft?

I made a leather "boot" to fit around it only now. Can I chrome that section

Of the shaft? Will the chrome process change the properties of that shaft

And make it hard and brittle?
