Re: [Titanaircraft] engine options

There have been a few. From what I've heard, some have crashed in hostile terrrain with engine problems, or been pulled and replaced with an aircraft engine. Also, while the weight is ballpark, the true power to weight performance is not. The ready-to-fly ramp weight of the 2200 at 85HP is 138 lbs, while the AeroVee on a good day is typically >165 lbs. (no Nikasil cylinders) at 80HP. Not to mention that it is still a conversion that requires lots of fabrication to get it to fit.

Has anyone used a VW conversion such as aerovee or great plains on a titan? I'm confident the Jabaru 2200 is a great power plant but the VW is comparable in weight and HP at about half the Jabaru price.
