Re: [Titanaircraft] Changed: Engine Characteristics

There's a problem? What would that be? Going that route would create more engineering challenges, installation logistic and thrust line problems than you can imagine on a Tornado, not to mention the added weight of a boat anchor aft of CG. Also, some engines have non-symmetrical thrust main bearings, and would require some crank welding, crank case and crank shaft machine work for the thrust bearings that you just wouldn't want to go through the time, pain and cost to make it work as a pusher -- then again -- install on an aircraft. That, in addition to the high profile, logistical problems of oil pans and sumps working for the correct climb attitude, just doesn't make it practical.

Subject: [Titanaircraft] Changed: Engine Characteristics

Just curious, would it be possible, or has anyone, to install a certificated aircraft engine like a C-85, C-90, or O-200, on a Titan? Seems like it would solve a lot of problems, and they are available somewhat reasonably ...
