Well most spam cans can't get to 1000' AGL by the time you get to a reasonable place to turn crosswind so you just horse it on over at whatever altitude you're at. Even at sea level at Vx I couldn't do it in a 150....

But even here at 6300' MSL I can get to TPA by the other end of the runway if I do a max performance takeoff, especially now with the powerfin fitted.

If I'm doing pattern work by myself, tho, I can still do the entire thing using half the length of the runway (keeps the tower pretty busy too ;)).

But at sea level I just could believe the climb. I.e. that day you soloed me my first takeoff was just out of sight. In fact, the only other time I'd seen a deck angle like that was in my trike and those are the best climbers in all of light aviation ;).

I also did my checkride in a 152 and we also could only carry something like 10 or 15 gallons and were right at gross.....
